Activity

Task

Mr and Mrs Stewart are sending their personal details to the conference organiser and are concerned about what legal protection exists to cover the security of their information under New Zealand laws. Please provide details of four privacy principles that would be applicable under the Privacy Act 1993.

When they are in New Zealand, the Stewarts are investigating setting up an inbound tour company. As all businesses, including tourism operators, in New Zealand must work within the provisions of the Fair Trading Act 1986 and the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.

Produce a leaflet describing the responsibilities of employers and employees under both these acts and include details of two examples of breach for each act stating the remedies and penalties for each example. Please ensure the Stewarts will be able to understand the legislation as it applies to the tourism industry.
