Hi there, Thanks for your message. sorry it took me so long to respond to you. I had a death in the family and had to travel for the funeral and had no access to email. Now back at work. We had some technical difficulties with the Google forum who has turned down a few participants for no apparent reason. When entering them individually, they were accepted, so we reentered all of our participants. I am unclear why you would have been banned, as we have not banned anyone from entering our courses. Dear Friend, The Ayur-Veda speaks of self-generated alchohol in some of the medicinal preparations. So is in the case of tireless enthusiasm. It generates inspiration and your messages do act as sweetening agents. That this talk is from the laptop I got with UGC grant for Minor Rsearch Project and that this laptop has mobile dial-up for 24x7 is a matter of great joy for me. Now I am equipped to go wikifying the teachers around here and elsewhwere, wherever I go. Once I had posted that I will carry WikiEducator on my lap. Now it will soon be on the TOP.

Yesterday's WiZiQ workshop was fun. It was my first time in any sort of live online session like that :-).

Just wanted to request that you stop by the Workgroup:WikiEducator Workgroups page to check out the progress that we've made. We've decided to create a charter so we can directly experience the process that we are suggesting for initiating a community-wide Workgroup.

While you are there, please add a brief statement of your relevant skills and experience (as related to the creation of the outcomes of this group) in the Workgroup participants list and note your preference as to communication method in the charter's communication section. And generally speaking all revisions, comments, contribution to ongong discussion are greatly appreciated.

I see that you added a user page to my wiki. I´m not sure I understand. I'm having a initial user page directed to a second user page that has my name at the top. Is there correct? Or is there a better way to do this?

Hi Benjamin, If I remember correctly - I am helping so many people - I have entered the WikiNeighbour template to your infobox and moved down the box that follows the infobox, to create a space in between them. I am not consciously aware that I have created a user page to your wiki as this wouldn't make sense. you have yours, but maybe somebody else did. I will check if I can see this on your page. Your comments were indeed quite encouraging, and, I really do feel honoured to be the recepient. I have navigated through your personal info and is encouraged by your data. Iam quite familar with the work of COL having been the recepient of a fellowship which allowed me the opportunity to spend 3-4weeks at COl's Headquarters in Vancouver, in the early 90's. I am still on the mailing list.

I have been a lifelong educator with professional training in Primary through to Tertiary education. However, my professional interest is in the area of Adult and Continuing Education, with particular interest in Open and Distance Education. I have recently completed my Doctorate(PhD) in the said area, so this sums up in a way, my passion for open and distance learning.

I think it has very excellent information about the User and great use of colors and graphics. As an evolutionary biologist I would also like to mention that the quality of the Biology and Computational Biology information on Dr. Sharma's Userpage is excellent. Dr. Sharma, despite being a new user, has already made good contributions to the WikiEducator resources in these areas. Wikieducator workshop L4C34 at Gargi College, New Dehi India, conducted by Dr. Gita Mathur (3)

Hi Patricia
I was the coordinator of the workshop on L4C34 held at Gargi College, New Delhi , facilitator being Dr Gita Mathur. Apart from the two of us, our organising committee consisted of Dr Sheela Kumari (Physical education), Ms. Arshmeet Kaur(Mathematics) and Ms. Romita Popli(Commerce). It was a very memorable experience. As soon as the participants logged in they got message from Mr Anil Prasad and you. Thanks for the constant encouragement. Soon after registering they could see what collaborative content development meant. Your box was also appreciated by everyone.
The workshop was very successful from all aspects. Though some of the participants (very few) had an idea about wikieducator detailed information could be obtained only through this workshop. Hats off to the wikieducator developers and our dear Dr Gita Mathur for arranging such a wonderful inhouse workshop. Since the group was of our own colleagues it was full of fun working with them. I also had signed in and learnt some syntax before the starting of the workshop and could help the participants on the first day. The second day of the workshop was only on hands on session and all our participants really enjoyed it.
Everyone liked the concept - having your own web page (though a bit of apprehension about somebody meddling with their page). And most of us being college teachers soon thought of using it for the benefit of our students. It is directly relevant to us. The speakers were wonderful. Everyone had something different to share. Dr. Savitri Singh very nicely exposed us to the concept of wikieducator and the free software linux. It was a nice gesture of hers to have spent time with us inspite of her busy schedule. Dr Sreedher enlightened about CEMCA, its functioning and the easy now which of course warrants a separate workshop. Dr Sreedher was there on two days and this boosted the morale of the organising committee. It was really an honour for us. Mr Bhushan's interactive session was highly absorbing, very thought provoking and of course highly interactive. He made us realise the importance of Linux and we all soon agreed to form a LInux users group at our college. Ms Lakshmi (NISCAIR) gave us a very important piece of information - that on important websites which were of complete relevance to the science departments. She also spent the whole day with us. Dr. Gita Mathur was full of excitement giving very well planned, well organised talks and helping in hands on sessions. I am thankful to her for roping me into the committee. In fact this gave me a very good experience in organising and conducting a workshop.
The apprehensions of the participants slowly started fading as the speakers presented their talks and answered their queries. Our own principal madam Dr Meera Ramachandran aptly summarised the wikieducator concept; she is very enthusiastic about it and alwasy supports such causes which lead to academic development of the faculty. After the workshop all our participants are willing to continue with wikieducator content development. Thanks again for all your support.

I apologise for not attending the online session yesterday as it was actually the time I was in traffic headed home. I only realised after signing on yesterday that the time was not 12 noon as was previously indicated. I wish I could have attended as I belive that online sessions are very useful having conducted a few myself. Hi Patricia I was the coordinator of the workshop on L4C34 held at Gargi College, New Delhi , facilitator being Dr Gita Mathur. Apart from the two of us, our organising committee consisted of Dr Sheela Kumari (Physical education), Ms. Arshmeet Kaur(Mathematics) and Ms. Romita Popli(Commerce). It was a very memorable experience. As soon as the participants logged in they got message from Mr Anil Prasad and you. Thanks for the constant encouragement. Soon after registering they could see what collaborative content development meant. Your box was also appreciated by everyone.
The workshop was very successful from all aspects. Though some of the participants (very few) had an idea about wikieducator detailed information could be obtained only through this workshop. Hats off to the wikieducator developers and our dear Dr Gita Mathur for arranging such a wonderful inhouse workshop. Since the group was of our own colleagues it was full of fun working with them. I also had signed in and learnt some syntax before the starting of the workshop and could help the participants on the first day. The second day of the workshop was only on hands on session and all our participants really enjoyed it.
Everyone liked the concept - having your own web page (though a bit of apprehension about somebody meddling with their page). And most of us being college teachers soon thought of using it for the benefit of our students. It is directly relevant to us. The speakers were wonderful. Everyone had something different to share. Dr. Savitri Singh very nicely exposed us to the concept of wikieducator and the free software linux. It was a nice gesture of hers to have spent time with us inspite of her busy schedule. Dr Sreedher enlightened about CEMCA, its functioning and the easy now which of course warrants a separate workshop. Dr Sreedher was there on two days and this boosted the morale of the organising committee. It was really an honour for us. Mr Bhushan's interactive session was highly absorbing, very thought provoking and of course highly interactive. He made us realise the importance of Linux and we all soon agreed to form a LInux users group at our college. Ms Lakshmi (NISCAIR) gave us a very important piece of information - that on important websites which were of complete relevance to the science departments. She also spent the whole day with us. Dr. Gita Mathur was full of excitement giving very well planned, well organised talks and helping in hands on sessions. I am thankful to her for roping me into the committee. In fact this gave me a very good experience in organising and conducting a workshop.
The apprehensions of the participants slowly started fading as the speakers presented their talks and answered their queries. Our own principal madam Dr Meera Ramachandran aptly summarised the wikieducator concept; she is very enthusiastic about it and alwasy supports such causes which lead to academic development of the faculty. After the workshop all our participants are willing to continue with wikieducator content development. Thanks again for all your support.

I sent a personal message using the Hello Template to 8 new users since last weekend. I have invited them to suscribe to online workshops too. How many people do you recomend to send a welcome message per week? I know that is required to help new users to increase their wiki skills too and I don´t know how many people I could to help with that, this is my concern and the reason of my question.

At this moment I have not had any reply of Wayne regarding to help in translate newbie tutorials into Spanish language. I know I could start to develop a project but I prefer to start with translation works due to I need to know how to develop a project better. I am not a teacher and I need to learn how to develop educational resources first, I think OER handbook is a good source to start with this.

I visited the WE in spanish and I found my username works in this wiki too, but my user page is empty. Do I need to edit a new user page in Spanish too?. Do you know Who is in charge of Spanish WidkiEducator?

Randy forwarded me a message you had sent him through the Wiki talk pages asking about certification. You have already been certified an Apprentice level 2 by Wayne. If you want to go higher you need to fulfill all requirements of a WikiBuddy. See here the levels of requirements: http://www.wikieducator.org/WikiMaster

On another delicate subject: I am not sure how to say this, but the Microsoft Office "How to.." guides you have on your user page should really not be on WikiEducator. This is an free/libre open source software environment, which Microsoft is not and you have lessons on your user page that explains how to use Microsoft software. Our community uses open source software like Open Office, not MS Office. See the link I posted this morning. Hope this helps.

NOT ALL PEOPLE ON WE ARE EDUCATORS OR WILL EVER BECOME ONE. THE WAY IT IS LAID OUT TODAY, AND BEING A WIKIBUDDY, IT WOULD BE THE HIGHEST LEVEL A PERSON LIKE MYSELF COULD EVER REACH AS I DO NOT DESIGN LEARNING CONTENTS (WELL, I COULD BUT IT MIGHT HAVE SOME WHOLES SOMEBODY ELSE WOULD HAVE TO FIX, AN EDUCATOR OR LEARNING DESIGNER)

iF A WikiArtisan is well-versed with learning design requirements, quality assurance procedures; AND the values of the free knowledge community (which a person like myself would be too, how do we cover the 1000s of people like myself?? in this process. Are we stopping them in their tracks by certifying them never to become WikiArtisans, if they have to be Educators like you say? Anybody can grow, can't they?

You say that a WikiArtisan has earned this status through demonstrated contributions to the community (I surely satisfy this requirement), the attainment of a high level of proficiency in wiki skills (I would consider myself well versed but there is still a lot to be learned) and an intimate understanding of the values underpinning our community (I do understand the work the values underpinning the community and learn sthg new every day).
